FAQ’s

1. Does this program/designation require participants to pass a written exam?

The CSMA™ designation requires each member to complete a 10 question exam and obtain at least an 80%. The CSMA™ designation requires a certain level of proficiency in order to use the designation. Without being tested, anyone can call themselves “certified.” The test incorporates the knowledge you are taught at the 1-day certification course.

 

2. Does this program/designation require members to follow a Code of Ethics?

Without a Code of Ethics, you have no assurance that the person you are working with is being held accountable for the way they treat you. CSMA™ professionals have pledged to follow a code of ethics. The CSMA™ designation has the authority to terminate membership and the privilege to use the CSMA™ designation for any marketing purposes if a member were to violate the Code of Ethics.

 

3. Does this program/designation require members to complete Continuing Education and renew an ongoing membership?

CSMA’s™ are required to attend 6 of REIC’s 24 free social media webinars on an annual basis, and attend one free, live REIC social media continuing education course on annual basis. You also must remain a member in good standing (we monitor your professionalism using social media). An annual renewal fee of $97 is also required.

 

4. Who has permission to use the CSMA™ logo?

Only CSMA™ designated professionals have authority to use the CSMA™ logo and CSMA™ materials.

 

5. What additional benefits are there for being a CSMA™?

6. Is the CSMA™ Designation affiliated with any local or national board or association?

The CSMA™ Designation is offered only through REIC and cannot be obtained through a local board or national association. The designation, course, materials, code of ethics, etc were all created by REIC for the sole purpose of certifying agents who want a competitive advantage vs their competition by using social media. This is similar to the CDPE designation.

7. Do I receive continuing education credits for attending this event?

At this time, the designation course is approved for 4 Continuing Education credits in Massachusetts through Westcor Real Estate School. As the designation expands we may be able to offer them in additional states.
